A ca. 1775 portrait of Declaration of Independence signer Arthur Middleton welcomes visitors to the hotel’s North Parlor. According to Hale, “one of the best portraits in the hotel” is the ancestral Chinese Ming portrait in the parlor adjacent to the Best Friend Bar.

Visitors to the Best Friend Bar will find a multitude of railroad artifacts from the Museum of Memories, in Virginia City, Nevada. Some of these items include an identification plate manufactured in 1907, a steam whistle, brass spittoon and a map of the Comstock district.
