Lowcountry Cajun Festival
April 6, 2014, noon to 6 p.m.If you are in the Charleston area on April 5th, you will have the opportunity to jog along for the scenic and satisfying Cooper River Bridge Run, an elite event now in its 37th year. Once the finish line is crossed, race participants and local residents alike will be ready for a lot of fun. On April 6th, guests will flock to James Island County Park to savor the cultural cuisine and exotic entertainment of the Lowcountry Cajun Festival.Move over, New Orleans. This Cajun celebration includes a full day of Zydeco music, Cajun and Creole foods, activities for the kids, and an eclectic mix of entertainment. Come hungry, as regional and local chefs serve up their fresh fare on the spot. From noon to 6 p.m., attendees are welcome to get their fill of festival fun. The ticket price is $10 per person, but the fun is free for children ages 12 and under and Gold Pass Members. Onsite, guests can sample various food and beverages and take home some souvenir treasures.The Lowcountry Festival will include all the Creole favorites, with the biggest buzz from the fair's famed crawfish. Get a real taste of the South from barbecue to jambalaya, plus all the traditional fair foods that the little ones love but back to the crawfish. Show off your love for delicious seafood by entering the annual crawfish-eating contest, and see how your appetite shells out against the competition.
