The Gibbes Museum of Art

Located with walking distance from our hotel, the Gibbes Museum of Art is a premier gallery located in Charleston, South Carolina with a collection of more than 10,000 pieces of fine art, primarily American works with a connection to the South or Charleston specific. The museum's one of a kind collections include the works from numerous artists with Charleston connections, such as Jeremiah Theus, Henrietta Johnston, Charles Fraser and Mary Roberts.

  • Sunday - 1 to 5 p.m.

Quarterly Lectures

The Women's Council of the Gibbes Museum of Art offers public programs on a quarterly basis. These must be reserved through a member and our free for prospective members of the Council.

Parking

Parking is available for buses and vans directly in front of the museum. There is no parking available on-site, however a public parking lot is accessible nearby.

FAQs

  • How do you schedule a group tour?

    Guided tours and group programs are available for between 10 and 60 visitors. Students groups are required to have one adult chaperone per every ten students. Tours must be scheduled no less than three weeks in advance. For reservations, email rsailor@gibbesmuseum.org or call 843-722-2706 ext. 41.

  • Are cameras and backpacks allowed?

    The museum provides lockers and bins for backpacks and coats. Large purses and bags will be checked at the beginning of the tour. Photographs are not allowed inside the museum.
